Brian James MacKinnon (born in Summerside, Prince Edward Island on April 20 1953) is a Canadian artist and family physician.

Brian started painting in 1977, and held his first show in the Auckland City Gallery located in Auckland, New Zealand. He has since had his work displayed worldwide; from the "Marion McCain Atlantic Art Exhibition", a local show containing work from 73 Atlantic Canadian Artists, to the "AAF Contemporary Art Fair New York", housing work from 130 galleries from around the globe AAF CONTEMPORARY ART FAIR NEW YORK 2004. MacKinnon's art will next be showcased at the "Toronto International Art Fair" in October 2007.

His artwork appeared on the cover of Canada's longest living literary journal "The Fiddlehead" issue No.213 (Autum 2002) and No.224 (Summer 2005). A MacKinnon painting was presented on the cover of the "Canadian Medical Association Journal" on April 15 1986 (Vol. 134, No.8). One of his gatorfoam pieces depicting a horserace was published in the spring 2003 (issue no.14) issue of Abu Dhabi's Euquestrian Club's quarterly magazine "Equestrian & Golf". Articles about Brian’s art have also appeared in "The Daily Gleaner" and "The New Brunswick Reader".

Medicine

Brian graduated from Dalhousie Medical School in 1977. He and wife Anne MacKinnon (a registered nurse) practiced in New Zealand from 1980-1982 before building a house on the outskirts of Fredericton, New Brunswick in 1982 where they currently live.

Brian a commencé à peindre en 1977 et a tenu sa première exposition à la Auckland City Gallery située à Auckland, en Nouvelle-Zélande. Depuis, son travail a été exposé dans le monde entier ; de la « Marion McCain Atlantic Art Exhibition », une exposition locale contenant les œuvres de 73 artistes du Canada atlantique, à la « AAF Contemporary Art Fair New York », abritant les œuvres de 130 galeries du monde entier. AAF CONTEMPORARY ART FAIR NEW YORK 2004. L'art de MacKinnon sera ensuite présenté à la « Foire internationale d'art de Toronto » en octobre 2007.

Ses œuvres sont apparues sur la couverture du journal littéraire le plus ancien au Canada, « The Fiddlehead », numéro 213 (automne 2002) et n° 224 (été 2005). Un tableau de MacKinnon a été présenté sur la couverture du « Journal de l'Association médicale canadienne » le 15 avril 1986 (vol. 134, n° 8). L'une de ses pièces en gatorfoam représentant une course de chevaux a été publiée dans le numéro du printemps 2003 (numéro 14) du magazine trimestriel "Equestrian & Golf" du Euquestrian Club d'Abu Dhabi. Des articles sur l’art de Brian ont également été publiés dans « The Daily Gleaner » et « The New Brunswick Reader ».

Médecine

Brian est diplômé de la Dalhousie Medical School en 1977. Lui et son épouse Anne MacKinnon (infirmière autorisée) ont exercé en Nouvelle-Zélande de 1980 à 1982 avant de construire une maison à la périphérie de Fredericton, au Nouveau-Brunswick, en 1982, où ils vivent actuellement.
