As a respected and world renowned oil painter - Tim's
work covers a very broad range of subject matter, with
particular focus on the America's Cup, Racing Yachts,
Clippers as well as producing various period
seascapes and historic and periodic marine art.
His work covers both dramatic rough seas as well as calm
tranquil seas.
Born in Hull, England in 1951, contemporary British
historical marine painter Timothy H. Thompson has been
painting for nearly forty years. His paintings focus on
marine settings, particularly battle scenes and boats
that span the centuries of fighting ships of Drake and
Nelson’s eras to the epic journeys of clipper ships.
Since the 1980s, a great deal of Thompson’s work has
been directed toward painting private commissions of
modern racing vessels. He has co-authored two books,
The Paintings of the America Cup and
The Story of Yachting, and has exhibited his
work throughout the United States as well as England,
France, Italy Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Monaco and
Australia. His work is popular in the market for
contemporary marine painting.
