     Roméo Vincelette:

Roméo Vincelette (1902-1979)

Born in Montreal, Québec.

From 1916 to 1920, he studied drawing with Joseph St-Charles and Joseph-C. Frenchère at the National Monument in Montreal. From 1921 to 1925, he improved his art at the Fine Arts Museum with Edmond Dyonnet.

Medium: Oil and pastel.

During 1925 to 1940, he had regular exhibitions at the Royal Academy Salon and at the Spring Salon. He died in 1979.

Works of this artist are part of collections in France, England, the United States and Canada.

From 1928 to 1934, the Fine Arts School of Montreal awarded him three, first prizes. In 1940, he was proclaimed the winner of the contest for the most representative work of Quebec by Canadian Pacific. Later he received two subventions from the Greenshield Institute. He has been the president of the Exposition Committee of the Art Club, vice-president of the Pen and Pencil Club and director of the Mount-Royal Art Center of the City of Montreal. He was mentioned in Le Guide Vallée 1983, 1989, 1993.
